Based Downtown Chicago, IL, this position reports directly to Harvard’s SVP, Field HR and will play a critical role in realizing the vision and growth plans for the company. The HR Director is a business partner to the SVP of Operations and is accountable for providing strategic input into all HR programs, plans and processes and for implementing and managing and HR programs, plans and processes to ensure alignment across the region. The incumbent is a key player on a national HR leadership team, contributing to HR strategy and building a high-performing team. The right person can toggle between focusing on the necessary tactical work today and ensuring that we are building for the future.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Accountable for aligning planning and delivery HR programs with Operations / Field and managing implementation in Chicago and other areas, as necessary.
Accountable for implementing and managing end-to-end HR processes that ensure the consistent delivery of HR services and results regionally
Build and maintain strong relationships with key business leaders internally and externally
Partner with Operations management and General Counsel on labor relations issues
Contribute to the development and management of Harvard’s talent programs, including performance management, development, training, and succession planning
Manage team of HR professionals to ensure a high level of service, creativity, and results
Partner with HR centers of expertise (COE) to assesses regional labor market conditions to ensure most current and applicable data is available to inform HR decision-making and program/process design
Create HR strategies and specific objectives consistent with long-term HR strategy
Develop and manage regional HR budget, policies, procedures as part of the HR leadership team
Ensure all regional HR activities are consistent with organization’s policies and standards
Contribute to the development and management of the HR dashboard consistent with Corporate HR dashboard
Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal employment law and regulations

Knowledge and Skill Requirements
(10+) years of recent experience with fast-paced environment for large private company handling multiple locations
Bachelor’s Degree required, HR Certification preferred
Experienced in fast-paced environments with limited HR programs / processes
Strong collaborator with the ability to establish close professional and trust relationships with our business leaders
Experienced in delivering quality HR services to an hourly, distributed workforce
Strong HR generalist and business partner skill sets
Demonstrated organizational savvy operating in a matrix structure
Experience in a union / CBA environment and dealing with all aspects of labor relations
Bachelor’s degree in related field
Track record for developing talent, within the HR organization and business leaders
Experience in developing, implementing and managing end-to-end HR processes, with focus on continuous improvement
Competency to multitask, and meet assisted goals within set timeframe
Creativity, driven, and a self-starter
Comfortable with metrics-based management
Talent to work efficiently with minimal supervision
Strong leadership and effective communication skills
Progressive proficiency in MS Office Suite
Bi-Lingual Candidates preferred
