MSC Cruises, the world’s third largest and fastest-growing cruise line, is expanding its communications team in the USA. Reporting to the VP of Communications, MSC Cruises USA, the Director of Media Relations will serve as the country leader of crisis communications, issues management, sustainability messaging and other corporate communications functions. This role will help build and protect MSC Cruises’ reputation in the U.S., supporting executive speaking opportunities, business media interviews, and trade media engagement.
This is a hybrid position requiring 2 days / week in the office in S Florida.
Coordinate crisis communications and issues management response strategy for urgent media matters.
Develop communications plans, draft messaging/statements, and strategic communications counsel for U.S. communications team issues management protocols and responses.
Work closely with global corporate communications teams to support goals and needs in the U.S., including sustainability communications, crisis communications, government relations, and employee engagement.
Support and organize executive speaking opportunities, media interviews and stakeholder communications.
Investigate, monitor, and work with internal stakeholders regarding guest complaints with media sensitivities.
Collaborate with Human Resources and internal communications team to support employee engagement initiatives and messaging needs.
Work with trade engagement, trade marketing and sales teams to reinforce industry messaging and build relationships with trade media.
Support social media and guest communications teams with messaging and response strategy around irregular operations or sensitive topics.
Manage and support global crisis communications agency.
Write and edit press releases, talking points, presentations, scripts and other materials.
Support government relations team with events and messaging, including maiden calls, dignitary visits, stakeholder communications and event management.
7+ years experience in corporate communications, crisis communications, reputation management or media relations, preferably with travel/hospitality experience
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or other relevant subject
Exceptional communications skills, confidence and experience liaising with senior stakeholders, both internally and externally
Advanced writing skills, including speechwriting, press release development and media interview preparation.
Accustomed to working closely with internal business partners in Marketing, PR, Revenue Management and Contact Center.
Demonstrable experience of driving crisis and corporate communications strategy, both internal and external
Exceptional Powerpoint and presentation development skills, including knowledge of video and visual asset creation.
