Job Summary:
The HR Manager oversees the day-to-day operations for the Human Resources team which includes the Payroll Specialist and two HR Generalists. The responsibilities include leading employee relations, project management, regulatory and policy compliance, benefits and payroll administration with support from local team and corporate, data entry, and general oversight of the HR Operations team. Plays a significant role in enhancing employee experience by seeking efficiencies in processes, supporting a welcoming HR environment, and promoting accountability while maintaining approachability.
The HR Manager supports HR objectives that foster an employee-oriented, high-performance culture emphasizing engagement, productivity, quality, and the ongoing development of our team. This position reports directly to the Director of Human Resources.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
Provides coaching, problem resolution and guidance to all levels of employees and managers regarding employee relations, policies and procedures, FMLA, ADA, employee leave, discipline, conflict and career growth.
Effectively manage employee relations issues; lead investigations, oversee investigation resolutions, and document activities.
Provides support and guidance to HR generalists, management, and other team members when complex, specialized, and/or sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
Partner with Director of Human Resources in the implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
Partner with the Director of Human Resources to analyze trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
Partner with Talent Manager to help manage the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with department managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings. Aid Talent Manager during seasonal onboarding and orientation.
Leads and manages the employee lifecycle once onboarded including professional development of employees, promotions, transfers, and offboarding.
Oversees the Payroll and Benefits group, providing leadership and support in administering employee benefits and payroll programs. Ensure compliance within the group on a local, state, and federal level. Support in audit and reporting requests. Serve as backup to the Payroll Specialist for payroll processing.
Maintain employee records and files as appropriate, including physical and HRIS records.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulation, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Ensure legal compliance with various governmental laws and regulations covering the areas of labor relations, OSHA, EEOC, safety, employment, wage and hour, workers’ compensation, etc.
Partner with Safety Manager on workers’ compensation claims.

Participate in company-wide and corporate-wide HR initiatives and long-term HR planning.

Requirements:
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources management, or related degree preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required.
5+ years of broad HR experience or high-volume employee relations equivalent
Experience in a high-volume, seasonal business preferred.
Proficient competency with Microsoft Products (Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
Understanding of local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations
Knowledge of HIPAA, FLSA, IRCA, FMLA, ADA, and WC.
Experience coaching employees, supervisors, and managers through underperformance, interpersonal conflict, and other issues.
Demonstrates high levels of resiliency, hardiness, self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and self-regulation.
Serves as a role model of Mt. Bachelor’s core values.
Demonstrated awareness and sensitivity to gender and diversity.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Work Location and Schedule:
Currently, we are requiring this position to sit onsite during their normal work schedule.
Schedule is flexible, with the expectation to work one day during the weekend (Saturday or Sunday), every other Tuesday to serve as Payroll backup/approver, as well as every payday Friday (bi-weekly). You will have the opportunity to flex your working days based on personal and business needs.
Bachelor operates 365 days a year, with a heavy emphasis over the traditional holidays. Coverage for the Human Resources department is critical during these times, and we expect this role to schedule the team accordingly.
Travel Requirements:
5% – may include traveling to different POWDR resorts for training, team building, strategy meetings, etc.
