The Human Resources Director is directly responsible for the overall administration, provision, coordination and evaluation of the human resources functions, services, and programs for the company. The Human Resources Director supervises and provides consultation to management on strategic workforce planning, compensation, benefits, training and development, budget and labor relations. The HR Director also takes a leadership role in fostering a unique and engaging culture that enables employees to succeed.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruitment, Hiring, and Onboarding Strategy:
Works with department managers on any departmental staffing needs, writes appropriate job descriptions, and organizes and assists with job interviews.
Works with managers to set new employees up for success by creating & overseeing “best in class” onboarding and training plans.
Recruits applicants for open jobs and manages recruitment budget; works to optimize recruiting reach by exploring new recruiting tools, methods and avenues of talent.
Works with Marketing Department to tell the Oliver Winery employment story through company website, social media and other communication and platforms.
Maintains up to date knowledge of current and new recruitment and screening tools. Employs a forward-thinking approach to recruitment software and programs. Oversees company use of these tools.
Ongoing Employment Strategy including Training, Benefits and Employee Engagement:
Training and Development
Takes lead with management training and development programs for full-time staff to enhance leadership and management skills.
Ensures that training and development is fostered throughout the organization. Serves as a resource for managers and staff by assisting with training and holding employees accountable through the learning process. Functionally supports training/learning as a non-negotiable part of key employees’ roles. Supports company’s overall strategic development goals.
Oversees employee review process in coordination with department managers. Assists department managers in conducting introductory and yearly employee reviews if requested. Maintains copy of reviews in employee files.
Conducts stay interviews and oversees Winery participation in employee satisfaction surveys. Incorporates feedback to forge continuous improvement path for Winery with employee engagement.
Conducts exit interviews with departing employees and reports back to appropriate management team members. Acts as witness on any employee dispute or discipline matters and issues employee warnings or dismissal letters as required.
Assists executive management in the annual review, preparation and administration of the organization’s wage and salary program.
Works directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters.
Supervises the staff of the human resource department.
Employee Benefits
Responsible for management of all employee benefit programs including health insurance, retirement plans, and wellness.
Leads retirement plan Benefits Committee. Works with 401k trustee, wealth management advisor, and third-party administrator to maintain compliance of plan with ERISA and DOL rules and regulations and administers the plan in accordance with the plan document.
Culture and Employee Engagement
Effectively plans, designs, develops and evaluates human resource-related initiatives that support organizational strategic goals.
Plans and oversees Oliver Live Well wellness program; works with HR and Admin staff to ensure program is compelling, engaging and suitable for overall employee population.
Assists managers with scheduling and supporting company related events that contribute to a satisfied and engaged workforce.
Keeps up to date on wellness, engagement and quality of work life trends. Brings generational consideration data with regard to motivation and engagement to management.
Works with Marketing team on internal employment brand and education through the employee newsletter, company portal and by being a contributing member of the community at large.
Risk Management, Safety, and Legal Compliance:
Works with Operational Management to direct company Safety Program. Works with department heads to ensure proper safety training, help establish safety protocols, and monitor success of program. Responsible for tracking all safety training.
Maintains detailed employee files with all pertinent employee information.
Annually reviews and makes recommendations to executive management for improvement of the organization’s policies, procedures and practices on personnel matters. Maintains and updates company policy manual.
Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the CEO or President, on personnel matters.
Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures organization’s compliance. Maintains responsibility for organization compliance with federal, state and local legislation pertaining to all personnel matters.
Communicates changes in the organization’s personnel policies and procedures and ensures that proper compliance is followed.
Continually evaluates HR software needs including Payroll, Benefits, Time and Attendance and HRIS software systems. Ensures current systems meet the organization’s personnel information needs.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field.
Due to the nature of our business, must be at least 21 years of age.
5-7 years’ experience in a managerial HR role.
Experience with Microsoft Suite.
Excellent organizational skills.
Well-developed listening skills.
Public speaking and customer service experience.
Empathetic leader with a high degree of emotional intelligence
Professional demeanor and situational awareness.
A strong interest in wine and winemaking.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position will have to spend long hours sitting. There may be visual or ergonomic strain due to computer use. It also requires extended periods of concentration and focus. The employee may also have to occasionally do some light lifting of supplies and materials. This job is in a winery/production setting that at times requires walking or standing for some period of time.
Typical Schedule:Position is full-time with benefits. Schedule is primarily Monday-Friday. Some occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
