For the continued expansion of its North American operations, PlanET is looking for HR Generalist to join our team. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the selected candidate will be expected to run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.
Responsibilities:
Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
At least one year of human resource management experience preferred.
Experience with cross border employees (United States and Canada) preferred as well as employment regulation experience in Canada
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all levels of the organization both written and verbal; includes building relationships with team lead and department Manager.
Strong organization skills and ability to adhere to tight timelines
Results driven with strong communication and organizational skills.
A self-starter and an independent worker
Ability to speak, read, and write German would be an asset.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Suite of products
Must have valid driver’s license and have the ability to work in Canada and the United States
Working Conditions:
This job operates both indoors and outdoors in areas that are not environmentally controlled. This job may be exposed to weather or under cover and in close physical proximity with others.
Exposure to hazardous conditions and equipment.
Physical Requirements:
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines.
Must be able to sit and/or stand for up to 8 hours a day.
Spend time bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pulling, pushing, lifting, grasping, or twisting the body.
