The Employee Relations Consultant plays a role in creating a great place to work by instilling confidence in the front-line leaders and employees that they are unbiased and neutral in facilitating resolution to employee relations issues and concerns.
The role provides education and guidance on ER related inquiries from employees and front-line leaders, elevating issues as appropriate and/or leveraging various additional support departments (i.e., payroll, benefits, talent, etc.) to deliver high quality ER services.
The role performs a variety of professional-level responsibilities of low to moderate complexity to enhance the employee relations function.
This includes, but is not limited to, advising employees and front-line leaders for assigned business units/clients on various employee relations issues, such as employee counseling, progressive discipline, involuntary terminations, driving consistent policy interpretation and application, and providing other support necessary for championing and driving a culture of accountability, inclusivity, and fairness.
• Working under minimal supervision, provides high-quality and consistent guidance and direction to front-line people leaders in the handling and resolution of routine ER issues through the informed and consistent application of company policies, programs, procedures, and federal/state laws.
• Provides credible advice, guidance, and professional support with respect to interpretation and application of employee relations policies, practices, and procedures; ensuring the effective management of ER-related risks (legal, financial and reputational).
• Advises front-line leadership and employees regarding their rights and responsibilities under state, federal and local laws, as well as policies and employee relations best practices.
• Assists in resolving a wide variety of employee relations issues including progressive discipline and associated documentation, preparation for employee conversations, performance management activities, accommodation requests, work restrictions, leaves of absence, fitness-for-duty, and employee assistance during crisis situations.
• Drives philosophies and programs to foster constructive employee relations and ensures the organizations’ approach to its employees is fair, respectful, and consistent.
• Researches fundamental ER issues and questions. Receives, evaluates and respond appropriately to employee concerns through partnership with the Sr. ER Consultant.
• Reviews, researches and provides support as appropriate on employee terminations to ensure compliance with state and federal laws, policies, procedures and standard management practices.
• Counsels employees who seek ER advice on workplace-related matters.
• Routinely provides guidance and education to other HR Centers of Excellence on ER-related matters.
• Develop and facilitate training on employee relations topics; provide insights and recommendations based on employee relations data analysis; and draft written case details and capture documentation in employee relations case management tool.

• Highly proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite as well as HRISs.
• Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational development, talent management, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
• Extensive knowledge of HR process, procedures, and policies. Prior experience working and applying HR principles in a system environment with prior experience developing, maintaining and improving processes to achieve greater efficiencies and performance.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university- Human Resources, Business Administration, or other related discipline
Required- PHR or SHRM-C
Required- 7 years Experience in HR as follows:
ER/HR Consultant, ER/HR Specialist, Sr./HR Generalist, or HR Business Partner, with five (5) years of experience in Employee Relations.
