LENGTH OF INTERNSHIP:
This is a 5-month internship, which will begin in April and continue through August 2023. The work schedule is flexible between the hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. The internship requires a minimum of 10 hours per week during the semester and 30 hours per week in the summer months. This is a hybrid position, splitting time between working at a home office and working onsite at the corporate office in Eau Claire, WI.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides assistance and support with the recruiting process, including posting job openings, reviewing resumes, conducting phone interviews, scheduling interviews, and providing applicant correspondence
Supports the onboarding and new hire process; conducts background checks and reference checks; schedules new employee training; creates new hire packets; conducts general new employee orientations
Assists with maintaining, updating, and creating job descriptions
Prepares employee communication materials, such as newsletter articles, flyers, emails, etc.
Assists with planning and organizing company events, employee engagement, service, and wellness activities
Conducts routine safety inspections and reporting, and participates in the Safety and Wellness Advocacy Team (SWAT) committee
Completes general HR administrative tasks (e.g., personnel file management, employment verifications, organizational chart maintenance, etc.)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Some knowledge of federal and state labor laws (e.g., FMLA, FLSA, ADA, OSHA)
Ability to outline clear communication logically and with a high level of business writing skills and attention to detail
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
Highly self-motivated, with a high level of time management and organizational skills and a creative aptitude
Ability to improve and maintain job productivity and quality; work is accurate, timely, well organized, complete, and consistent
Ability to develop and maintain productive work relationships with various positions within the organization
Ability to manage changing priorities and workflow
Ability to provide exceptional customer service
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Actively enrolled or a recent graduate in a degree program focused on Human Resource Management, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Business, or related field
Proficient with Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word and Excel, PowerPoint, and the ability to learn additional programs as necessary
