Your Focus & Scope:
Primary HR leader in Saratoga for employee relations, compensation questions, and performance management
Leader the annual evaluation process for the region.
Support the shared services HR team with employee relations and investigations and management of termination requests.
Facilitate supervisor training, including curriculum design to support region leaders on core practices
Facilitate OD process such as development of career paths and succession planning
Policy and procedure updates.
Department budget oversight.
Lead talent management meetings with directors.
Support your HR team members’ areas of responsibility when they are away from the office.
Oversight of home community records management and employment verifications.
About the team:
As a team, you will work to ensure our programs and initiatives are effective, efficient, and aligned for our nonprofit organization. In total, we employ a diverse team of roughly 285 employees at Saratoga Retirement Community, 220 employees at the Meadows of Napa Valley and 175 employees at University Retirement. Our team of six will support all three communities with additional support from the central office HR team.
The scope/areas of focus for the other HR Directors is listed below. Each community will also have an HR Partner onsite to support the HR function.
University Retirement HR Director – Compliance, Reporting & SafetyArchitect of leave management system and process for the region.
Manage escalated workers comp claims and participate in regional claim review calls for the three communities.
Communicate updates to Covid leave and regulatory requirements for the State of CA with the region.
Design Safety Program models and templates for implementation in all communities.
Specialized reporting preparation of materials for meetings in the region.
Meadows of Napa Valley HR Director – Employee Engagement, Compensation & Benefits Work with managers to track open positions, train managers on applicant tracking process and serve as the regions primary liaison to the recruiting team to ensure integration with HR systems is process is optimized
Create framework for all communities for a consistent new employee onboarding experience
Primary point of contact for planning open enrollment, follow up on benefit concerns, reporting requests, and manage employee benefit communication
Design and management of employee recognition practices.
Upkeep of compensation resources for region, train manager to utilize tools for starting pay and monitoring needs for market adjustments

Qualifications:
Five (5) years’ experience as a Human Resources professional with background across all disciplines: talent acquisition, performance management, compensation, recognition, benefits, employee relations, employment law, and compliance.
Demonstrated progressive leadership experience as human resources professional managing others.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field; Master’s degree strongly preferred.
Current Human Resources Certifications (SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP, HRCI-SPHR, or HRCI-PHR).
Prior experience in retirement living, healthcare settings, and/or in the hospitality industry is preferred.
Multi-site management experience preferred
Prior experience supporting a team of 250+ employees
Past experience supervising other HR professionals
Organized strategic thinker with ability to do big picture analysis.
Collaborative individual who is able to effectively communicate complex Human Resources regulations to management and front-line staff in an accessible way.
Knowledge of current developments in Federal and California Employment Law.
Extensive experience in California Wage and Hour laws.
Experience with California Workers’ Compensation regulations and processes.
Experience with Benefits Administration and ACA administration and compliance.
Strong Computer skills – MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook.
Strong Time Management skills.
Proven track record in management/employee coaching and documentation.
