Job Summary
The HR Generalist, under the leadership of the Director of Human Resources, is accountable for providing on-site human resource services to employees and provides strategic and hands-on support for the HR function in the area of recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, benefits, compensation, and training serving the Hutchinson and Willmar Campus’ of Ridgewater College. This position assists the Director of Human Resources in all phases of human resources within the college.
This position is considered confidential defined by M.S. 13.37 as it has access to and utilizes information pertaining to labor relations, it provides assistance and information for use in the development of a strike plan, and it will research/compile classification and compensation information to respond to equity proposals for salary ranges for classes under review in collective bargaining negotiations.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, public policy or similar OR two years para-professional experience performing HR work in selection, classification, or transactions relating to employment and staffing. Experience with recruitment and selection to ensure that all affirmative action/equal opportunity, data practices, and procedures are followed.
Federal and MN employment laws and MN personnel laws and rules and collective bargaining unit agreements sufficient to ensure daily work complies with laws.
Strong written and oral communication and customer service skills sufficient to create clear and concise documentation and present information in one-on-one and group settings.
Manage time sufficient to meet deadlines and assume increased responsibility to multi-task and prioritize with limited direction.
Excellent decision-making skills with the ability to analyze complex information, research answers to problems and/or concerns, and/or create reports for management.
Experience and ability to interact respectfully with diverse populations.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with recruitment, onboarding, employee training programs, benefits administration, retirement programs, employee engagement and recognition programs, and organizational structure and succession planning.
Knowledge of State and/or MnSCU personnel policies and procedures, MnSCU labor contracts and system policies.
Knowledge of State and MnSCU programs such as SCUPPS and SEMA4.
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional HR development.
In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State’s vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
