Job Title: Head of Training & Development
Location: Thousand Oaks, CA
About the role:
The Head of Training leads the GxP Learning and Development (L&D) for the Thousand Oaks site. You will ensure our people have the skills and competence to produce life-saving therapies safely, right first-time, every time. The team is comprised of an Instructional Systems Designer and Learning Management System (LMS) specialists. While you report directly to the site organization, you will partner with Takeda’s Global Learning and Development along with other sites to we are all stronger together.
We are looking to implement new and modern technologies which has possible effects for how to train our people. The challenge, while remaining in full compliance with regulations, is to transform the site’s GxP training systems and capabilities. You will collaboratively develop a long-term strategy for the site, implement those strategies, supporting projects, and guide next steps to promote our capabilities and prepare us for the future.
We are looking for a leader of change, who has the stamina to lead necessary change in a sometimes-complicated environment. We need a people-focused leader with experience delivering outcomes, not just hitting quantitively targets. You are structured, logical and can work through complex issues to bring clarity and simplicity. Prefers to receive general ‘directional’ guidance from which develop targets, plans and processes. You should adapt to changes in the business environment, seek feedback to alter approach in response.
How you will contribute:
Operational Responsibilities
Lead the site’s L&D team including trainers, instructional designers and LMS administrators.
Ensure the sites compliance in GxP training.
Provide information and analytics on ongoing training operations.
Improve the site’s L&D capabilities and escalate along with appropriate recommendations.
Partner with site leadership and ensure the sites training needs are met to ensure supply to patients.
Partner and influence Digital, Quality, Manufacturing and EHS teams to ensure we create training content that inspires our performance.
Represent the site’s GxP training in regulatory and compliance audits.
Transformation
Collaboratively develop and implement projects to accomplish the site vision.
Ensure L&D is considered as an important element of the site’s improvement projects and changes.
Lead the future upgrade/replacement LMS partnership with IT.
Have a demonstrated experience improving operations.
Knowledge of current L&D systems, practices and techniques.
Leadership
Strong negotiation, influence, and facilitation skills.
Demonstrate structured, logical, important, and analytical thinking skills.
Must have organizational and project management abilities.
Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills.
What you bring to Takeda:
Bachelor’s degree required.
7+ years managing a training function in GMP regulated environment preferred, minimum 3 years as a supervisor.
Specific experience in Pharmaceuticals, Biologics, or equivalent.
Develop a long-term strategy for the L&D program at the site, work with Takeda sites and Global teams to implement known best practices.
Collaborate within cross-functional teams to lead solutions.

Important Considerations
At Takeda, our patients rely on us to deliver quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product. You may:
Your work will be a combination of sedentary work and walking around the cGMP facility.
Frequent wrist and hand motion (e.g., typing, writing).
May frequently lift to 10 pounds (i.e., binders, files).
May work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.
Will need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.
May work in a cold, hot or wet environment.
May work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.
Although tasks will be made specific to working hours, flexibility is expected, with the understanding that goals may necessitate changes in work hours and responsibilities.
Little to no travel.

Base Salary Range: $143,500.00 to $205,000.. Employees may also be eligible for Short-term and Long-Term Incentive benefits. Employees are eligible to participate in Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Charitable Contribution Match, Holidays, Personal Days and Vacation, Tuition Reimbursement Program and Paid Volunteer Time Off.
The final salary offered for this position may take into account many factors including location, skills, education, and experience.
