Operations Manager Needed for Large and Growing Transportation Company $170,000 DOE per annum plus benefits and bonus program.IntroductionLarge and sophisticated transportation company is growing and needs additional expertise. The company seeks an individual who has already demonstrated director-level work and experience. This individual must be a transportation professional of the highest caliber. Experience specifically in the drayage industry is strongly preferred.Please note that the single most important skill required is leadership and team-building ability. Being an expert in transportation is not required. Experienced in a related field, for example, manufacturing of any kind, railroad, any intermodal or other supply chain niche.About the company: This organization has a large operation in Northern California with a stellar reputation for excellence and success in complex, valued-added transportation services. It is actively investigating new markets.About the work: The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned.-Supervise management of the company’s fleet of vehicles and other field equipment.-Supervise management of the company’s independent owner operator fleet.-Supervise management of scheduling and dispatch of all transportation of equipment to customers in and out of the Port of Oakland.-Supervise development and implementation of a maintenance and repair program for all vehicles and other field equipment.-Develop and manage a support team to provide customer training and service in the field.-In conjunction with VP of Transportation, manage client relationships from an operational perspective, with some sales aspects.-Negotiate with and manage relationships with key independent owner operator influencers.-In conjunction with VP of Transportation, develop cost strategies.-Identify customer service and opportunities for improvement; develop programs to take advantage of these opportunities.-In conjunction with VP of Transportation, understand the company’s customer satisfaction goals and ensure they are met within any program identified for implementation.-Develop and prepare s per business needs.-Establish and maintain professional communication with vendors.-In coordination with VP of Transportation and CFO, develop, implement, and monitor department budget; manage expenses within approved budget constraints.-Hire, train, supervise, motivate, and develop field services staff; manage schedules and workflow.-Assign duties and monitor quality of work; assure staff conforms to organizational policies and procedures and government regulations.-Provide day-to-day guidance and oversight of subordinates; actively work to promote and recognize performance.-Keep up to date on overall activities of the team; identify problem areas and taking corrective actions.Qualifications: – You must function at the Director level. We are hoping to find the right individual who has the potential to work into a VP role.- Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in Supply Chain or Business Administration or related/equivalent field strongly preferred.- At least eight years related experience or equivalent.- Five years of management experience strongly preferred.- Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating subordinates.- Excellent written and oral communication skills.- Ability to work with all levels of management.- Ability to manage priorities and workflow.- Excellent computer skills; Word and Excel as well as shipping/inventory software programs.- Experience managing operations based on data analysis.- Proven leadership and business acumen skills.- Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.- Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in person, on the phone, electronically, or through other means to individuals and groups.Drug test, background check will be required upon acceptance of offer.Job Type: Full-timePay: $170,000.00 per yearBenefits:
