The Assistant/Associate Director, Human Resources (HR Generalist) plays a critical role in supporting a positive and engaging work environment at MoMA, fostering a culture of high performance, innovation and passion. Reporting directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer, the HR Generalist will contribute to strategy and plan development, and administer a comprehensive program of human resources administration. This includes policy development, employee and labor relations, organizational development, workforce planning, performance management and employee engagement. The HR Generalist will also work closely with the Compensation Manager, Learning and Development Manager, Benefits Manager and Talent Acquisition Manager to provide on-going support in the areas of job analysis and classification, compensation, benefits administration, diversity and inclusion programs, recruitment and onboarding. This role also ensures MoMA is in compliance with union and non-union labor laws and good people management practices, and proactively recommends solutions and leads initiatives that enhance organizational effectiveness and contribute to the achievement of MoMA s vision and mission. Influences and advises on people and related matters, and acts as a trusted advisor on sensitive and/or critical issues. Ensures high quality delivery of fundamental HR services through meaningful metrics, reports, dashboards, and continuous process improvement, and is a highly ethical, visible member of client and HR leadership teams. Able to understand and leverage a broad range of HR and client organizational knowledge for action planning, issue prevention and strategic initiative implementation.

This person will be inspiring, energetic and fully embrace the Museum s mission; also have a strong customer service orientation with sound judgment. The candidate must be a leader, demonstrating at least eight years of experience partnering with senior leadership and serving as a credible and trusted resource, and demonstrate an ability to think strategically. Equally significant qualifications include strong integrity, excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong interpersonal relationship skills.
