Ascent Pro Support is seeking a full-time Human Resources Manager to join our Leadership Team at our offices in Muscatine, IA. Ascent Pro Support is a fast-growing organization serving the commercial transportation industry. Our emergency road service operation provides roadside assistance which rapidly restores service to commercial trucks across the U.S. and Canada.
Our Human Resources Manager will serve as a strategic advisor to the business to ensure best practices are used to meet and exceed business goals. You will directly lead a 3-person staff, responsible for office management, talent acquisition, onboarding, benefits administration, professional development, compensation analysis, compliance, HR Policies, etc. You will work with a 22-person management team responsible for over 200 employees in 14 states.
Duties/Responsibilities
Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
Provides support and guidance to HR generalists, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
Maintains and develops effective internal procedures, handle employee-related issues, support recruiting and retention efforts, and keep performance at peak levels.
Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
Manages offboarding process for terminated employees, including documentation, unemployment hearings, internal communications, deactivation of company accounts, etc.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Supports the onboarding process, ensuring the process is up to date and of high quality, providing clarity and connection for all employees
Maintains management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures
Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles
Collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
Generates official internal documents and templates such as offer letters, employee memos, policy documents, and onboarding forms.
Skills and Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
A minimum of three years of human resource management experience.
Exceptional communication skills, writing skills, interpersonal skills, and ethical mindset.
Adept at problem-solving and conflict resolution.
Demonstrated ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
Extensive knowledge of HR policies and systems.
Familiarity with HR software and working knowledge of MS Office.
Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS (BambooHR) and talent management systems.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

144 hour of PTO per year, prorated during the first year of service.

Weekly paycheck.
