Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Interprets and coordinates policies and programs covering the following areas: employee and labor relations, recruiting, compensation and benefits, strategic planning, and training. Refers or seeks counsel from HR management as needed in these areas.
Counsels management on HR policies, procedures, and programs. Refers complex issues to HR management for assistants as needed.
Communicates HR related programs to managers, supervisors, and employees.
Along with HR personnel, assumes responsibility for effectively recording, maintaining, and reporting Human Resources information.
Interacts with management to retrieve sensitive and confidential documentation as needed for employee relations.
Exercises individual judgment while dealing with potential or real troubles on own initiative and bringing them to HR management’s attention.
Participate in employment orientation, development and training.
Reviews employee complaints and ensuring accurate and timely documentation of concerns or issues.
Facilitates actions to resolve the employee issues and escalating them to appropriate management team.
Improves manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems; evaluating potential solutions; implementing selected solution; coaching and counseling managers and employees.
Completes special projects by clarifying project objective, setting timetables and schedules, conducting research, developing and organizing information, fulfilling transactions.
Attends staff meetings and other meetings as required.
Performs other related duties as required.
Educational and Other Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or one to two years experience in the HR field or similar combination of education and experience.
PHR or SPHR preferred or willing to attain within a reasonable time frame.
General knowledge of Employment Law and HR principles, practices, and procedures.
Ability to travel 20% of the time.
Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software applications, especially Excel and Microsoft Word software.
Sensitive to confidential information.
Must work independently and as a member of team.
Mental and Physical Requirements:
Able to read, speak and write English.
Ability to use sophisticated computer software programs to achieve job functions.
Sitting – at desk or computer station, standing, walking, speaking, hearing – frequent
Bending/Stooping, twisting, lifting – occasional.
Gripping, reaching, writing, fingering (data entry), handling (paper, files, etc.) – frequent.
Able to work under stressful conditions at times.
Fine Motor Skills – typing, 10-key, ability to write for extended periods of time.
Communication – phone communication, communication with personnel and vendors.
Seeing – able to see the computer screen.
Climbing – able to go up and down stairs.
Position will require a minimum of 40 hours per week unless otherwise directed by supervisor.
