Department Information
Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Orthopaedic Surgery provides collaborative and comprehensive clinical and academic training for the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons. The team’s world-class faculty are highly trained in an array of orthopaedic subspecialties and are committed to the continuation of orthopaedic excellence.
Job Summary
Counsels employees and management on various HR topics and functions; communicates and shares understanding of various human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards and other government regulations.
Researches, responds to, and addresses various employee relation issues such as FMLA, employee complaints, workers compensation, etc.
Develops in-depth knowledge and skill in various HR functions, in addition to growing knowledge in HR policies, procedures, and legal requirements to provide quality HR guidance to employees and managers.
Develops a thorough understanding of the business strategy and culture for RC, school or department.
Contributes and/or manages various HR activities, projects, or initiatives, such as recruitment, onboarding, engagement, or performance management.
Researches and stays up-to-date on relevant HR topics.
Helps foster a positive culture and work environment; ensures and promotes an environment of diversity and inclusion.
May conduct research and analysis for local/department HR team or COE partners and develops solutions and recommends course of action.
May lead small projects or activities.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
Bachelor’s degree (degree in Human Resources preferred)
WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred
Human resources or related experience
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
