PenFed is hiring a Benefits Administrator (Remote) at our Alexandria, Virginia location. The primary purpose of this position is to be responsible for the administration of PenFed’s group health and welfare benefit programs while ensuring excellent customer service and quality benefits are provided to all employees. This position is the primary point of contact for group benefits administration across the organization as well as for plan vendors and third-party administrators. This position will also administer employee benefit plans including eligibility and enrollment, billing and reconciliation, and coordination of Open Enrollment activities and Wellness Programs.
Responsibilities

Responsible for administration and support tasks related to all leave of absence programs, including family medical leaves (FMLA and/or state specific), non-medical leaves, and the claim process for short term and long term disability.
Serve as a point of contact for HR team and vendors in managing STD/LTD claims and adherence to FMLA and worker’s compensation rules.
Responsible for the day-to-day administration of all group benefits, including processing of all timely benefit invoices (medical, dental, vision, ancillary, FSA, HSA, and other voluntary plans).
Serve as a contact and partner for benefit consultants/brokers, plan vendors and third-party administrators.
Collaborate with the shared services team in daily tasks related to benefits administration including improving and managing automated processes, and assisting employees utilizing benefits administration and HRIS systems.
Manage relationships with benefits vendors to ensure quality services are received.
Coordinate efforts for annual open enrollment including responding to inquiries from employees.
Assist benefits team to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements including PPACA, COBRA notifications, HIPAA certifications, distribution of annual reporting and notifications for the health & welfare plans.
Provide customer service support to internal and external customers.
Assist HR department with activities and projects as needed.
Qualifications
Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field is preferred.
Minimum 1 – 3 years Broad HR functional experience.
Proven experience with championing change is required.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.
Travel
Ability to travel to various worksites and be on-call may be required.
