About the Indiana Office of Technology (IOT):
The Indiana Office of Technology provides cost-effective, secure, consistent, reliable enterprise-technology services to our partner agencies so that they can better serve our mutual customer, the Hoosier taxpayer. IOT will also act as the technology and solution enabler for the State, helping its partner agencies achieve business objectives and innovation.
Role Overview:
The IT Compuer Scheduler defines, monitors, and responds to various alerts, alarms, and workloads across a varirty of systems in an enterprise data center. Systems include Windows, Linux, Unix, z/Os, and various network components, using tools such as CA7, CA11, TSO, SDSF, Orion, and others. You will serve on a team that is the central point of command and control for wide variety of IT systems and application support. This area is staffed 24/7/365. You must be able to work in a fast-paced, and sometimes high-stress, environment. Weekends and holidays are required on a rotating basis.
A Day in the Life:
Workload Scheduling:
Evaluate and define job types, definitions, dependencies, triggers, and related details based on customer request and need.
Define job schedules based on complex scheduling requirements.
Monitor the execution of the defined workflows and respond to any anomaly according to predefined procedures and policies.
Document all jobs/tasks to include reason for failure, steps completed to resolve the issue, and any changes that were made to prevent this incident from occurring in the future.
Data Center and Network Monitoring and Response:
Ensures that all security protocols are followed pertaining to data center access.
Monitors fire-suppression, Cooling, Power and UPS, systems, and reports, responds, and follows-up on any issues that are found.
Monitors network systems to include Orion console, site notifications, troubleshooting assistance, contacting carriers, triage and escalation, incident lifecycle management, documenting, and reporting.
Helpdesk Support:
Provide Tier1 helpdesk support that includes assessment, incident documentation, troubleshooting, password resets, other documented processes, and escalation for events that are impacting critical systems.
System Monitoring:
Take action for critical alerts that are generated for various distributed systems and respond based on predefined policy and procedures.
Monitor mainframe systems and maintenance and respond to alerts. These include JCL creation and modifications, completing documented IPL procedures, and following procedures related to starting and stopping various tasks and applications.
General:
Triage and when needed, escalating problems to appropriate support personnel.
Keep management aware of current or potential problems.
Operate and monitor various activities and ensure that the agencies we serve can carry out their responsibilities to state constituents.
Ensure the timely completion of production batch cycles and interface with clients in the scheduling and running of production jobs as needed.
What You’ll Need for Success:
High School diploma or equivalent is required. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Equivalent experience in an IT Operations environment can be substituted for college education.
Data Center/NOC Operations experience.
Experience with workload automation/job scheduling concepts.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.

Salary:
This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $40,404. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.
